About Us - Why Mauritius
Mauritius has emerged as a key destination for outsourcing (including IT/KPO) employing over 120,000 people in the industry. Currently, the Mauritian outsourcing industry has more than 350 companies. Key services of these companies are financial, legal, HR, computer drafting, engineering design, healthcare, data management and clinical outsourcing. According to Everest Group, the Country is home to around 15 global players which include Nfosys, Ceridian, Accenture, Intelenet and captives such as DHL, Deutsche Bank and Huawei.

As per AT Kearney’s Global Services Location Index, Mauritius was ranked amongst the 25 top outsourcing destinations. In 2005 Mauritius had the seventh highest GDP per capita in Africa at around $10,155. With an average cost per professional of $300-$350 per month, the island offers cost benefit over other African countries like South Africa, Senegal, Tunisia and Kenya. The island seeks business from a diversified set of countries which include U.K., France, America, India, China, South-Africa and Switzerland.

Cost Benefit
Mauritius is emerging today as one of the most favoured locations for the outsourcing of global services. Companies have realized more than 40% cost savings on their work outsourced to Mauritius. A mix of attributes has made the island an attractive location for IT and business process outsourcing services, shared services, disaster recovery and help desk activities. With a bilingual work force, a convenient time zone, state-of-the-art infrastructure and an open-economy environment, a growing number of multinationals are using Mauritius for global delivery services. Further, higher literacy rates and proficiency in English and French have meant that companies have also improved on their quality of work. Law firms and legal departments can also realize such benefits by offshoring their legal work to Mauritius.

Hybrid Legal System
What makes Mauritius attractive is the unique characteristic of its legal system which is a conglomeration of English Common Law and French Civil Law. While Company and Procedural law is largely based on English law, substantive law is essentially modeled on the Napoleonic code. Our lawyers are able to adapt quickly and understand foreign laws. Mauritius is essentially a multi-ethnic country, hence multilingual which means that we can deliver legal expertise in several languages. The literacy rate is much higher than any other contemporary outsourcing destination. Acting as a hub, Mauritius can support the North African belt with French skills and the southern part of the African belt with English.
